Announcing New Dog Shelter, Friends of Street Dogs, in Vushtrri, Kosovo

We are thrilled to announce the opening of a new shelter, Friends of Street Dogs, an NGO based in Kosovo in partnership with the US-based non-profit, International Friends of Animals in Developing Countries.  Jointly we are dedicated to the welfare of street dogs and other animals in developing countries. Our first center will open its doors in Kosovo, marking the beginning of a transformative journey for animal welfare in the region.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide shelter, medical care, education and loving homes for the man street dogs of Kosovo. We aim to:

• Rescue and Rehabilitate: Provide immediate care and shelter to street dogs, addressing their medical needs and ensuring they are healthy and happy.
• Promote Adoption: Facilitate the adoption of rescued dogs into loving homes, both locally and internationally.
• Educate the Community: Raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare and responsible pet ownership through educational programs and community outreach.
• Advocate for Animal Rights: Work with local governments and organizations to improve animal welfare laws and policies.

Kosovo has a significant population of street dogs in need of care and protection. By establishing our NGO here, we aim to make a tangible difference in the lives of these animals while also fostering a culture of compassion and responsibility towards animals in the community.
